During the last weeks, Sony Ericsson’s Vivaz found itself pitched against a battery of tests. In case you pissed a part of our coverage, use the list below to catch up:

Given the device’s target market, the issues with the unreliable touchscreen, missing power button and the weak flash will probably go unnoticed. Power users, of course – will think differently.
For them, the low weight, stylus and ergonomic shape are likely to make up for some of the deficiencies of the device. The Vivaz will never become a power users darling though.
Our CFO (semi-poweruser), on the other hand, was delighted to be able to replace his aging Motorola KRZR with an “nice-looking device which doesn’t break the bank”. OK, he might want a keyboard and a better stylus integration – but, for him, the phone is just perfect.
In the end, the Vivaz does an admirable job for its target audience: if you want a slim yet powerful smartphone, the Vivaz is about the only non-Apple choice you have. The Nokia N8 might become an issue if it manages to avoid the pitfalls mentioned above – stay tuned!

Hi
For the past few years I own Sony Ericsson P-800. It is time to replace it but it has one function that none of the new smart phones has and it is “Searching by Job Title”.
All the new phones synchronize with M.S. Outlook and if you want to search somebody by “Job Title” you have to build up your own groups of “Job Titles”. As a Real Estate developer I have more than 2000 contacts which will take me a week to build new groups, when in the P-800 I click on “Contacts” “Find” type for example “Plumber” and it pulls all 36 plumbers from my Contacts.
I have shopped all over and could not find even one phone that could do that.
I thought that if the P-800 had the Symbian system I should look for a new phone with Symbian system.
I like the Sony Vivaz because of the HD Video.
Do you know if there are any Apps for the Vivaz that can search by Job Title? Or do you know any other phone that has this function?
Your help will be appreciated.
Sincerely
Yoram Vulkan

Hi Yoram,
thank you so much for talking back!
I don’t think that the Vivaz can do this out of the box, but it should IMHO be able to do so when given a third party program.
Also, you must keep in mind that SE has had extreme customer service issues with me recently.
All the best
