Nokia has just announced two new devices. Before we get to the nitty-gritty: the 640×360 screen still is around, no QVGA touchscreen device has been released as of this writing. This is great for developers like yours truly…but let’s now go for the details.

Nokia E72
The Nokia E72 is the successor of the E71 (oh, the wonder) – and generally seems to be the same. However, it has a few detail improvements…the most interesting segments of the press release are below:

The optical navigation key makes scrolling through emails a breeze and also helps bounce around the menus quickly and easily. The camera has been upgraded to a full five megapixels and heavy data users will love the support for up to 10.2Mbps connections over HSDPA. The audio jack has also had the upgrade treatment with 3.5mm jack now appearing on the top of the device.

Sound quality on calls is improved with the addition of active noise cancellation and navigation gets a boost with the addition of a digital compass. Maps is also integrated and comes with a lifetime walk and 10 days of turn-by-turn navigation, if activated within the first three months. You don’t need to be worried about getting caught in the dark either – a single press on the spacebar key will activate the torch!

The Nokia E72 is expected to begin shipping late in the third quarter of 2009 at an estimated retail price of €350 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia XPressMusic 5530
The 5530 got some love, too – this 200 Euro handset is described as following:

I know you all want the skinny on the 5530, but you already know it from the game. Yes, this phone has a large touch screen with tactile feedback (I like to say it touches you back) and no physical keys; a 3.2-megapixel camera and LED flash; Bluetooth, WiFi, and EDGE for all your connection needs; a music player for all the stuff you download from the Nokia Music Store; widescreen video playback at 640×360; hot-swappable MicroSD slot (4GB included); and a standard 3.5mm audio plug for your rocking headsets.

Stay tuned – press image galleries drop in a jiffy!
