New software for S60v5Nope, folks – LocaNote isn’t 100% done yet (even though I could use some beta heads). However, Nokia and its partners have just released a flurry of software for touchscreen devices – enjoy the list below:

Flash Lite 3.1
Flash Lite is an essential part of the browsing experience on the present-day internet: unfortunately, it has a tendency to be extremely slow (flash blockers are extremely popular among notebook users).

Our favorite little critters have had Flash Lite for some time – but the product just received a major upgrade adding/fixing the following:

# Improved Web Browsing, 91% of top 500 internet sites.
# Flash 9 (AS2 only) support
# Local Connection / HTML Text / GetURL_target / CSS support / WMode
# H.264 support / Improved video support (smoothing, seek)
# Improved memory handling for images
# MP3 Streaming support
# Support for hardware acceleration — Flash Lite 3.1 supports OpenVG 1.1 to improve flash rendering performance on capable devices.
# Linux Reference port

Nokia Messaging graduates
Next up is Nokia’s Messaging client – it has been available in beta form for quite some time, and has now been “graduated” to production-ready state.

No new features were added – the quote below is right from Nokia itself:

We have taken all of your feedback into account for the next version of the client which is coming this summer. One of the biggest requests is for HTML, and I’m happy to say that we’ll be bringing that to you. Another is homescreen integration – you’ve probably noticed that the 5800 does not have the traditional S60 home screen for integration that Nokia Messaging traditionally uses. Trust me – we understand the importance of email notification, and are working with the device team in order to deliver you better notification
