Nokia’s E71 definitely is one of the sturdier smartphones: no touchscreen, robust PVC keys and an aluminum body make sure that it remains functional even when blemished. Nevertheless, nice devices have more resale value…which is where Proporta’s leather case comes in.

Proporta is one of the very few manufacturers who still send envelopes. This means that their parcels (sent from the UK) can be delivered to your letter box when you’re not at home.

As products ship in their retail blisters, damages are a non-issue:

I have no idea why the folks at Proporta’s insist on including a belt clip with every case they sell:

Getting the device into its case is easy – just slide it in from the top. Once inside, the case largely remains out of your way except for a few typing eekers:

A cut-out at the back allows you to operate the E71’s camera even when the handset is in its case:

The clamps were placed strategically and should not interfere with any of the controls located on the sides:

The same can be said for the top and the bottom of the device:

Unfortunately, the clamps are slightly too large and make typing more difficult as your thumbs tend to bump into them – as the E71’s keyboard is quite rotten as it stands, this probably wont make too much of a difference though:

Finally, here are two shots showing the device in its case:

As usual, Proporta’s case gets the job done. This manufacturer is in the business of selling these cases unmodified for so long that negative surprises simply don’t happen any more – the price of about 40$ is acceptable.
