Forum Nokia user zhang_guoqing recently had to use Google’s static map API in one of his products – and was unhappy as there was no sample code available for S60.

The product of his efforts currently goes by the name MapNavi on Symbian OS, is under the GPL and allows you to download maps off Google’s server – two sample screenshots are below:

Even though the GPLness of the code prohibits you from using the code in your own programs, taking a good look will definitely turn out to be helpful for everybody who develops location-aware S60 applications. Full scoop after the break…
