We have no idea whatsoever about which issues Nokia has had with the WiMax version of the N810 (as we heard of none) – nevertheless, it looks like there was something quite serious afoot. MobileBurn reports that the device has not only been discontinued, but that distributors have also been requested to return all stock to Nokia:

Our sources have informed us that Nokia has discontinued its N810 Internet Tablet WiMAX Edition, effective immediately. Distributors have apparently been asked to send any remaining stock back to Nokia.

This is a highly unusual step (as Nokia has to reimburse them for the boxen), and IMHO indicates that the N810 WiMax is severely flawed in one extent or the other. As Nokia naturally won’t state what the problem is, all we can do is stay tuned – who knows when we will find out more by chance…
