Nokia5800XpressMusic 1 lowres Nokia: XpressMusic 5800 hits UK on 23rd of January
UK readers waiting for Nokia’s first-ever touchscreen handset will be relieved to hear that a definitive release date is now available: the box will drop on the 23rd of this month according to The Register.

The initial shipment will hit Nokia’s stores (located at Regent Street and Heathrow Terminal Five, although I could not find the latter a few weeks ago) by 10′o clock AM, and will cost £249 /$371/€272 when purchased OTC. On-line ordering is also possible; however, these orders will not be fulfilled until February according to Nokia’s web site.

As of now, nothing is known about carrier partnerships. However, The Register states the following – which makes me think that the device will soon become available with a (heavy) subsidy:

From the end of January, the handset will appear in Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and network operators’ stores.
