Struthio camelus australis grazing Nokia: no firmware updates against Curse of Silence
Quite a bit of time has passed since Nokia was first made aware of the Curse of Silence bug – unfortunately, the company has chosen to follow a head-in-the-sand policy towards all things security hole or vulnerability.

Darla Mack cites a Dutch web site, which states that a higher Nokia official has stated that firmware updates will not solve the problem as they “are not applied by most users”. His idea instead involves carriers blocking these malformed SMS in a fashion similar to what Hutchison does with MMS’s carrying SIS files.

As of now, no list of carriers has been released…

P.S. Did you know that Ostriches actually don’t bury their head in the sand?
