It looks like the landslide commonly known as Nokia’s product quality is heading for a new low with the XpressMusic 5800. symbian-freak reports that their official tester has had various issues with his purchased device (no loaner).

First of all, the device is full of bugs (N96, anyone?):

Nokia 5800XM is actually a plastic toy with a brand new S60 5th gen system in the market

As the 5800 has no mechanical parts, shoddy mechanics were replaced by cracking cases. Furthermore, the display is said to change “color hues” suddenly – which IMHO is a sure-fire indicator for leaking/low-quality cathodes used in screen backlighting (Palm IIIc, anyone).

Since the article is based on a single user’s opinion, it IMHO is too early to decide if this is a series flaw or not. Thus, any TamsS60 readers owning the device are asked to chime in – commenting is free and your anonymity is protected by Austrian law(*)!
