Stock S60v3 phones can be considered extremely safe: the tiny virus “epidemies” hyped by hysteric buffet journalists have been made almost impossible by a mechanism known as application signing.

Nevertheless, the folks at Kaspersky’s don’t give up easily: their latest S60 security tool is called Kaspersky Mobile Security Enterprise Edition. However, the program now seems to actually do something useful - it contains the following features alongside with the (useless) virus scanner:

  • a firewall
  • an SMS spam scanner
  • a phone tracker which keeps you updated on the installed SIM and phone number
  • remote wipe

If the program would include some sort of access restriction, this program could be considered a one-fits-all solution. As it stands now, the program definitely is much more useful - but will probably cost much more than purchasing the individual components from ISVs would…
