Many mobile device manufacturers have traditionally had crappy third-party developer support: for them, third-party developers were considered a nuisance or cash cow at best. Nokia has always adhered to a different type of policy…and has now updated its excellent developer programs once again.

First of all: the fees have been cut radically all over the developer support offers. Companies making it into the invite-only Forum Nokia Pro now no longer have to pay a single cent; while developers who are members of LaunchPad pay 300 to 800 Euros a year.

Furthermore, a new program called Forum Nokia Pro Accelerator is intended to gather up the cream of the crop – it is invite-only:

“Nokia is pleased to announce Forum Nokia PRO Accelerator designed to advance development and deployment of third-party software and services with the greatest industry transforming potential, working in close partnership with top-tier VCs, including Nokia Growth Partners,” said Tom Libretto, Vice President, Forum Nokia. “Forum Nokia continues to honor its commitment to provide world-class developer support, through the new PRO Accelerator program, and through broader access and increased benefits in our Forum Nokia PRO and Launchpad programs.”
