Samsung’s latest S60 box (the INNOV8) is among the first camera phones that ship with an 8MP sensor – a resolution little lower than the one found on my Olympus E520 DSLR. Even though sensor sizes and qualities will definitely make sure that the INNOV8’s results won’t make me ditch the E520, its camera nevertheless sounds interesting.
The guys at symbian-freak’s have now posted a report looking at the camera in some detail – even though no sample images are available, the device’s features are very impressive.
Samsung included a variety of features commonly found in consumer compact cameras – things like smile shot (trigger the shutter if all people on the frame “smile”) and face detection (whoever needs it) are included along with a very useful “slow-motion” function that records QVGA videos with 120(!!!)fps per second.
We currently wait for a sample of the INNOV8 – Samsung’s Austrian press department has promised us one a few weeks ago, but has never been heard of since…
