Apparently, the recent reports about Nokia’s plans to become a boutique brand in the USA are true. After the E71’s small-scale launch, its smaller brother (the E66) is said to follow suit.

SymbianGuru reports that the E66 is now available in Nokia’s flagship stores which are located in Chicago and New York City. The “steel-grey” machine costs 540$ before taxes, other color options are not available as of this writing.

I am a very big fan of Nokia’s idea – they target customers who choose a Nokia and thus are more likely to buy third party apps to increase their ROI. Unfortunately, these premium customers love choice (Palm’s Treo 680 was available in exclusive OTC-only colors)…forcing them to stick to steel-grey could piss of quite a few of them…
