Apparently, mobile phone enthusiasts have recently begun to develop a taste for digital cameras. First, our sister site TamsPalm brought a huge bunch of Olympus E520 sample images, and the boys at Mobile-Review now follow suite by torturing the Samsung INNOV8.

The device was pitted against a Canon point-and-shoot camera, and didn’t too fare too bad unless ambient light levels became low. Unfortunately, Samsung omitted a manual mode where exposure and shutter time can be controlled - users have to haggle through a bunch of scene modes instead.

As for ISO: the device goes up to ISO 1600 - a value where even professional digital cameras struggle to some extent(bar the Nikon D3). The ISO 1600 images produced by the Omnia look noisefree - at the expense of image detail. As ISO gets higher, it always comes town to having to choose between colors and details - Samsung apparently picked color(which is a bad choice - noise can be removed on the PC, whereas details can not be restored from JPG files)…
