So far, most of Nokia’s XpressMusic handsets were based on S40. However, this seems to have changed – the 5230 runs S60V3 FP2 and costs 200EUR without any carrier subsidies.
AllAboutSymbian’s analyst TZer2 got the box into his hands, and cooked up a little review. He generally was happy with the build quality, but disliked the small 2inch screen and the keyboard.
As usual, Nokia deployed a MicroUSB slot and a weird memory card door to cover the slot. Don’t ask me why, but the guys apparently felt that putting the opening ridge for an external slot door under the battery is a great idea.
TZar2 was very happy with the music playback capabilities – his review contains a very long piece on the 5320’s music player prowess. RAM-wise, the machine has 85MB free – this is the biggest amount of memory ever seen on an S60 device to date.
Unfortunately, WiFi, autofocus cameras and GPS have been left out. Nevertheless, people able to cope with the small screen should be more than happy.
