Just in case anyone of you wonders what will happen to the S60 version of Opera:
Even though the company didn’t bother to respond to my official inquiry about the S60 version, they now posted something to one of their countless blogs:
After we announced last week that the first beta was expected on July 15th, many of you asked if we would offer a Symbian version. We will offer a Symbian version of Opera Mobile, but you will have to wait a while. We do not yet know when the Symbian version will be ready because development and quality assurance on mobile devices is time consuming. In the meantime Opera Mini is a great alternative for Symbian users. On July 15th, we’ll release that first beta for Windows Mobile. Then we need your feedback and ideas to help us improve the browser.
Looks like we will get Opera 9.5 eventually – it’s just a question of time…

Let’s hope it wouldn’t take too long…
Is it just me, or mobile software companies have turned choose to focus on WM and iPhone? It feels like they left us Symbian enthusiasts…
Hi Yaniv,
seeing that their PPC version is delayed, I think that we will be in for a LOOONG wait..

Wouldn’t it make more sense to release the Symbian version first? Symbian has something like a 60 – 70% share of the mobile handset market, Windows mobile has a mediocre share not even worth bothering about. It doesn’t bode well for the browser if the company can’t manage simple market research.
Hi G,
yes – but keep in mind that S60 devices ship with a much better browser than PocketIE!

It will never come so it seems because everyone including opera has stopped talking about it. How sad!
Hi Fild,
I am sorry to say so, but I think the same nowadays – Nokia IMHO has attacked them too agressively:
