US version of N95 will get firmware update

Peoplke usi9ng an US version of the N95 have been left in the rain so far - no software updates for their device. However, this is now set to change according to the NSU team.

A thread on Nokia Support Discussions contains the following announcement:

Nokia N95 US version (also known as N95-3)
Nokia is aware of consumers’ demand for a new software release, and our development teams are working to produce the new software as soon as possible. We estimate that the new software should be available early June.

Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants will have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any delay.

As of now, no information is available on what this new firmware will bring - stay tuned for information!

Designers of N78/N96 talk about “the world”

Nokia recently began to fill up YouTube with various videos of Nokia employees talking about…um…stuff. This time, it was Joeske Schellen and Daniel Dhondt’s turn.

The two industrial designers talk about a variety of topics including making phones environmentally sane, the N-Series family concept and a bunch of other things.

Snake SubSonic: x new levels of 3D snake

My Nokia N71 shipped with a 3d version of Snake that sweetened up many boring moments in my life(until it got lost when swapping memory cards). The folks over at the N-Gage blog now claim that an updated version is due soon:

Got some good news as we head into the weekend: Snakes Subsonic is scheduled for a release in the middle of next week. We don’t have an exact time yet, but we are shooting for Wednesday, although of course all releases are subject to change.

The game’s visuals look significantly updated - here is a sample screenshot:

Unfortunately,. it looks like this game will be limited to N-Gage capable handsets. People having paid out of the nose for an (excellently built) device like the N71 will probably be left standing in the rain…
